Travelling involves a great deal of planning such as packing, passports, maps, booking hotel rooms and more, which can take some of the fun out of your trip. If you’re considering renting a private passenger vehicle in Canada or the US there’s another set of details you many want to investigate with your broker and that’s adding an SEF27 to your policy.
When renting a vehicle most people automatically think about vehicle size, pick up and drop off, airport fees, and refueling fees. One thing you don't want to have to think about is paying even more money for your rental vehicle. The Loss Damage Waiver (LDW)** charges a car company will try to sell you can run upwards of $20 a day!
Before ordering your rental vehicle contact your broker to review your auto policy and consider adding SEF27. For only $20 a year (depending on your company), you may be able to extend your auto coverage to cover a rental vehicle and transfer your policy deductible to the rental vehicle. It also covers all the listed drivers shown on your policy, subject to the requirements of the rental company. Remember though, it is only for private passenger vehicles; cargo vans and moving trucks are not included.
Regular contact with your broker helps them better understand your needs and then, together, you can choose the best coverage at the best price...for you.
