Job Description / Duties

We are looking for a Broker Placement Specialist to join our commercial mid-market team. Are you a resourceful and ambitious individual wanting to continue to expand your insurance knowledge and skills? A Broker Placement Specialist helps overall growth objectives through effective marketing and developing relationships with producers and insurers and carries out a wide range of duties.

How will you affect the business?
• You will help with strategic planning for the placement of business with appropriate insurers
• You will ensure the right information is flowing between Gallagher and our carriers.
• You will be involved in developing products, facilities and market support to win and retain business
• Support for Producers in the development of new business
• Assistance in the marketing of key and difficult placements
• Working with our claims team to assist with claims settlement and advocacy
• You will have the ability to learn on a continual basis through educational opportunities and collaboration with colleagues

Qualifications / Required Skills

Qualifications – Education and Experience

• Post-Secondary Education, Bachelor’s degree preferred or commensurate commercial work experience
• Active Nova Scotia General Insurance Broker License
• Minimum 3 years commercial insurance broking experience
• Existing, strong relationships with a number of insurers
• Must be an excellent communicator with above average customer service skills
• Great technical and negotiating ability with a strong attention to detail
• Ability to prioritize work to meet deadlines and work confidently in a fast-paced environment

What's nice to have

• CAIB, CIP, CRM or relevant Insurance designation or actively studying toward completion
• Solution oriented with a problem-solving mind-set and able to develop resourceful and innovative approaches and solutions
• Ambitious, creative and resourceful
• Strong ability to build, leverage and maintain relationships with clients, brokers and insurers
• Works effectively as part of successful team to achieve objectives
• Familiarity with EPIC broker management system
